Shetima, Fashola Task Legal Practitioners on Honesty and Fairness

The Vice President, Kashim Shetima has charged legal Practitioners in the country to remain true to the ideals of honesty and fairness towards building a good legacy for the Country. The President, who spoke through the Vice President, Kashim Shetima, made the appeal at the maiden Annual Lecture and Public Presentation of the Body of Benchers Law Report.
The maiden Annual lecture and public presentation of the Body of Benchers Law Report brought together prominent Legal Luminary across the country. Speaking at the opening session of the event, the vice president, Kazim Shetima said the foundation of every great nation is built on the ethical sensitivity of the institutions that uphold justice adding that the pursuit of justice does not happen in a vacuum.
The Vice President posited that every time justice is delayed, every time the law is bent to serve the interests of agents of anarchy, and every time institutions waver in the face of blackmail, the foundation of the nation is eroded. He called on legal Practitioners in the country to remain true to the ideals of honesty and fairness.
In his keynote address, former Governor of Lagos State and the former Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola called for the certification of lawyers in the country in order to preserve the integrity of the Profession. He maintained that competence is key as it helps to maintain standards stressing that the Body of Benchers in Nigeria must set new rules and come up with new laws.
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere Ekun, commended the Body of Benchers for ensuring high professional standard among practitioners while the Chairman Body of Benchers, Asiwaju Adegboyega Awomoolo, expressed concern the threat of Artificial Intelligence, lawyers without Border and international organizations who claim to stand as guardians of the world legal consult.
